Laser Acne

What Is Acne?

Acne is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that is characterized by blackheads, whiteheads, nodules/cysts and pimples. Acne most commonly occurs on the face, neck, back, chest and shoulders. An estimated 85% of people between the ages of 12 and 24 experience acne. Acne is the most common skin condition in the United States, affecting approximately 50 million people annually. Acne often leads to physical and psychological problems including scarring, depression, low self-confidence and anxiety.

How Does Laser Acne Therapy Work?

The laser targets overactive sebaceous (oil producing) glands in your skin that are responsible for acne.

How Many Treatments Do I Need?

Treatment usually consists of 3-4 treatment sessions that are spaced four weeks apart.

Will This Help with My Acne Scarring?

This particular treatment addresses active acne lesions. Acne scars are unique in character and can be evaluated by our team of professionals. At Radiant, we offer chemical peels, Juvederm™, laser resurfacing and DermaFrac microneedling/micro-channeling which can be used to address scarring.

What Are the Side Effects?

Some patients complain of mild discomfort during the procedure, though this is rare. Immediately following the treatment redness may occur.

Laser Hair Removal

What Is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is a fast, effective treatment for unwanted hair. The laser equipment beams highly concentrated light into the hair follicles where it's absorbed by the pigment in the follicles which destroys the hair. This is a permanent solution for hair removal. Our Quanta Forte Laser has settings which can effectively treat light and darker skin tones. Laser hair removal is your safe, effective, permanent solution to shaving, waxing and plucking. Radiant brings the first Quanta Forte laser to Louisville, Kentucky. In fact, it's actually the first in America. This exciting new laser delivers fast, PAIN FREE laser hair removal. Gone are the days of suffering through painful laser hair removal procedures.

What Areas Can I Have Lasered?

Women typically request legs, axilla, upper lip, chin and bikini line while men are more likely to request chest, back, neck, shoulder, and beard. With our laser, we're able to treat any body part that has unwanted hair except for eyebrows. Laser therapy should not be used around the eyes!

Is There Any Downtime Related to this Treatment?

No way! After your treatment you'll be able to return to work and your normal activities. However, you should avoid sun exposure for six weeks which can cause skin discoloration after treatment.

How Do I Prepare for My Appointment?

Do not wax, tweeze, or pluck for six weeks prior to your appointment.

You must avoid tanning and sun exposure for six weeks before and after to prevent skin discoloration

You must shave within 24 hours of your appointment. Our providers will not be able to perform the procedure if the hair has not been shaved. Longer hairs increase the risk of burns and pain!

How Long Does the Procedure Take?

Typical procedures last about 30 minutes. We usually recommend 3-5 treatment sessions depending on the severity at an interval of four weeks.

How Do I Prepare for My Appointment?

We recommend that you use a gentle cleanser on the area to be treated. Please do not use any oils, creams, or cosmetics over the sites. You must avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least two weeks before the treatment. Please ask us about SkinMedica, Annmarie, Turo and Jane Iredale sun protection.

How Quickly Can I See Results?

You will notice benefits after the second treatment. Symptoms continue to improve over the next few weeks with maximal improvement taking up to six weeks.

Is There Any Downtime with Photofacial?

Laser Resurfacing

Laser resurfacing is an aggressive therapy for aging skin that requires approximately two weeks for recovery. Since this particular procedure can be painful, our staff will apply topical numbing medication prior to the procedure.

Many skin conditions can be addressed with this technique. Fine lines and wrinkles can be smoothed out and nasolabial folds can be minimized. We can even soothe acne scars, redness, and pigmented lesions.

While treatments can help minimize the signs of aging and sun damage, they cannot halt the process. Optimal results can be maintained with follow up treatments every 6-12 months and a daily sun protection. Ask us about our sun protection products from Annmarie, Turo, SkinMedica, and Jane Iredale. We have many safe, convenient, quality products that can help moisturize and protect your skin.

Laser resurfacing is the ultimate solution for skin rejuvenation. Resurfacing eliminates old, damaged skin and replaces it with fresh, healthy appearing skin. Our medical spa services include many options for aging skin; however, resurfacing is the most effective treatment of all. Let us teach you what laser resurfacing can do for you.
